His Majesty Nextgen Part Two: Comparisons between Xbox Se X and Playstation 5 versions: Digital Foundry report on Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition
Hello everyone! Here is the second part of the analysis Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition from Digital Foundry. For a better understanding, check out the first one: it describes graphics settings in more detail. Happy reading!

We have previously discussed the amazing work 4A Games over Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on PC And Xbox – today we will only complement our opinion by talking about the version for Playstation 5. In short – very cool. Same as other versions, the latest version is used 4A Engine, which was originally created to support hardware acceleration of ray tracing. By the way, the global illumination algorithm works on this basis. The goal is the same as on other consoles – 60 frames. Players who bought original Metro Exodus, will receive the new version for free.
Well, let’s go!? What is https://quality-bingo-casino.uk the difference between the versions for PS5 And X Se X? The first thing that catches your eye when comparing head-to-head is the darker colors on PS5. Somewhere it looks appropriate: for example, level in Moscow, but somewhere – not: Caspian I like it more on Xbox Se X. The problem seems to be in the initial calibration: dark details are barely visible. The default mode is "very dark" on PC. Previously, we had certain problems with displaying images on PS5 – however, the problem was observed only in SDR mode, but in Metro, seems to be a problem with HDR Same. It’s a little weird. By the way, we spend quite a lot of time on this to explain why this effect is observed. It will not affect your perception.
Generally, Enhanced Edition on PS5 comparable to what we saw on Xbox Se X: same level of detail, same set RT effects and the same victims compared to PC. Even limited support VRS is identical, although its use does not require hardware support. What we see in Metro is like Call of Duty: Warzone: VRS achieved through MSAA. It’s a bit of a pity, of course, that full implementation Tier Two not anywhere – not even on PC. Temporal zooming is also used to make it seem real 4K: the actual resolution is lower, but detail is not lost due to its accumulation in several frames – then the one that corresponds to what is happening on the screen is displayed.

So far we see parity between the two consoles, but there are nuances: the first is dynamic resolution. Hardware support for ray tracing requires a lot of resources, so the range of resolutions is large, however, everything is mitigated by temporary upscaling. The bare minimum Xbox Se X was within 1080p – on PS5 in the most difficult moments he sinks lower. As for the resolution in the open world, it is between 1296 rub And 1512r, while Xbox Se X issues from 1512r to 1728r. Essentially the throughput PS5 works for 80% from maximum Xbox Se X. I spent about 6 hours in the game to get these results, but to get to Taigi – the most resource-demanding place – more time is needed. So these numbers may be even lower towards the end of the game.
Second – advantage Xbox Se X takes a hit when it comes to performance: during combat and traveling in the open world PS5 runs more smoothly. Yes, sometimes, of course, the frame rate drops, but where Playstation 5 holds tightly 60 frames, on Xbox Se X stutters happen. Why this happens is unclear. I hope the developers will solve this problem. It’s unlikely that it’s a GPU load issue.
Both console versions have a loading speed advantage over their older brothers, but don’t seem to use APIs storage. Xbox Se X By the way, it loads a little faster. For my part, 4A were really able to use the advantages in an interesting way new controller from Sony. I’m certainly not a complete fan of some of the solutions for DualSense, but pulling the trigger looks interesting: in some places it is tighter, and in others it is lighter. There is also a tactile hint for a sneak attack when you are close enough to the enemy.
Ultimately Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition – this is just an amazing game. It’s surprising how the developers worked on the implementation of ray tracing. Moreover, it is very early for the new generation. The game is definitely worth it: comparing head-to-head with the previous generation, we see how the game has been visually improved. Besides, it’s unlikely that anyone would want to complain that the game instead of 30 frames shows 60, and also looks much better. Sensational release from 4A Games – what else can I say? Of course I recommend Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on any platform.
